If you have any photos of the early days of the school, please send them to us! We'd love to put some memories online!
Our Background and History
The Prairie Gael School of Irish Dance has been a part of the Irish community in Regina since 1997. Bernadette Gavin started the school in response to a need for a school of Irish dance for children. The Irish Club of Regina was teaching céilí dance at the time, but there was no place for children to learn to dance. Ita Gomes encouraged Bernadette to start up a school.
The school was originally located in the YWCA and has moved around since then! Midwest Karate, the Performing Arts Centre, our own location on Albert St. then back to the Performing Arts Centre again! We're now on the lookout for a new studio space! Keep an eye open for us!
The school has grown over the years and we now have two instructors and at least four assistants! Since 2005 we have also offered classes for adults as well as children. We perform all over the city and we also work with the Irish Club of Regina on many events and performances.
