Learn More About Us!

The Prairie Gael School of Irish Dance is the only all ages Irish Dance school in Regina. We're pleased to offer classes to all ages of students, from as young as six to adults! We're currently a recreational school so we focus on instruction, technique and performance opportunities, rather than competition. We're currently in our 13th year in operation here in Regina. We're located at 1933 - 8th Ave. in the newly renovated Studio 310!

We offer classes that teach both solo and figure or céilí dances. A beginning dancer can expect to start out in soft shoes and then progress to hard shoes once the first few dances have been mastered. This usually takes about one year of lessons. Hard shoe dances are then added to the repertoire of dances. A dancer will also begin working on larger, choreographed pieces with other dancers in preparation for Mosaic and St. Patrick's Day performances.

Performances are optional for students in the school, but are strongly encouraged, as this gives the young dancer a goal to work towards. We are always in demand for performances at local senior citizens' homes, community events and Irish Club of Regina functions. We also perform in Mosaic, which is Regina's multicultural festival.

Dance Levels

We currently offer classes at 4 levels, which roughly correspond to levels a dancer might encounter at a competitive level. We do tailor our instruction to suit the individual dancers. Our levels of instruction are:

  • Beginner - Absolute beginner - soft shoes only
  • Novice - Beginner soft shoe dances learned - Beginning hard shoe
  • Intermediate - At least 1 year of hard shoe and beginner dances completed
  • Advanced - Mutiple Soft and hard shoe dances completed
